Charles Arnoldi Contemporary Prints at Kass/Meridian

Charles Arnoldi (American, 1946)
Arnoldi has been described as and artist who “draws in space” to create his unique assemblage works of art. According to the architect Frank Gehry, the maturing Arnoldi has a secure color sense and the ability to work in large scale as well as in tiny exquisite works.

Early on Arnoldi began using branches and twigs to make up the lines within his paintings. His earliest works were almost primitive in their simplicity and shape resembling delicately balanced woven baskets. With his monotypes he employed splintered plywood and twigs right on the plates to create an organic sensitivity.

For over thirty years, Arnoldi has experimented with abstraction, using an amazing palette of vibrant colors and an ever-evolving imagery in his paintings and works on paper. His later works have moved more toward the elements of composition and away from the earlier very textured and natural medium.

His art is on display in major museums throughout the world and he continues to live and work in Los Angeles.
