K.B. Hwang
Kyu-Baik Hwang was born 1932, in Pusan, Korea. Although a well-established painter in his homeland, he sought new challenges in Europe. In 1968 he began his studies in art history at the Ecole du Louvre in Paris. At the same time, he began working at the celebrated Atelier 17 under its founder Stanley Hayter. K.B. Hwang moved to New York City in 1970 where he worked primarily in color mezzotint for thirty years. He currently dedicates himself exclusively to the medium. Hwang's work is found in the collections at the Art Institute of Chicago; the Museum of Modern Art in New York; the British Museum in London; the Uffizzi Museum in Italy and the Musee d'Art in Paris.
