John Walker, Contemporary Prints at Kass/Meridian

John Walker (British, 1939)
Born in Birmingham, England, Walker studied at the Birmingham School of Art from 1956-1960. He then studied at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris from 1961 to 1963.

Walker's works on paper convey powerful gestural brush strokes, dense colors, and brooding sensibility. His large-scale monotypes and etchings embellished with colored aquatint employ a graphic technique suggesting the powerful forces of organic elements.

Walker’s rich and densely layered paintings and prints engage history, biography and poetry through a highly developed personal language. A true painter’s painter, John Walker is admired for his sensitivity to the many textures of the medium and respected for his uncanny ability to reinvent its form.

Walker is currently the head of the graduate painting program at Boston University.
